Nominating Guidelines

To qualify for the Blue Spruce Award, nominated books:

1. Must be written by a contemporary Author
2. Must have been published within the last five years
3. May be fiction or non-fiction
4. Need not have been written exclusively for a young adult audience
5. May not appear on the list in consecutive years
6. Must not have appeared first as a movie or television program
7. May not be written by the previous year's winning author
8. Must meet accepted standards of quality

Also:

• Only one title by an author can appear on each year's list
• Once a book has won the Blue Spruce Award, other titles in the same series may not be nominated.
