Here’s the big news! We’re getting together on the
Western Slope at the Delta Public Library on April 29th from 10 am-3
pm.
All CATS Division members are invited to attend this fun and
informative meeting. In honor of Estes Valley Library’s previous
Storytime Exchanges in years past, we will be having a mini Storytime Idea
Exchange as well as a Tween and Teen Program Idea Exchange concurrently for
those of us who work with the older crowd over
to the Western Slope.
10:00 am – 10:15 am – Coffee and Light Breakfast: Network with
colleagues and settle in for a fun and informative day!
10:15 am -10:30 am – Welcome and Introductions: Meet
the board members of the CATS Division and connect with your fellow Western
Slope colleagues. Hear about what the year has in store for us.
10:30 am -11:00 am – Jam Band: A Delta Public
Library volunteer, Gerry, shares his very successful and musical Jam Band
program for school-age kids at the Delta Public Library.
11:00 am-11:15 am – Break: reset room for next class
11:15 am -12:15 pm – Creating Cartoon Strips with Kids:
Professional teaching artist D.P. Benjamin (a Cedaredge local!) will lead a
workshop showing us how to teach kids of all ages how to draw their own cartoon
strips – no art experience required! Learn more about Mr. Benjamin here:

12:15 pm – 1:30pm – Lunch: on your own
1:30 pm – 2:00pm – Check Out CO State Parks: Beth Crist from the
Colorado State Library will talk about an exciting new collaboration with the
CO State Parks that is set to launch this summer.
2:00 pm – 3:00pm – Programming Brainstorm and Share: Take some time
to share your successful storytime elements and tween/teen program successes
with your colleagues during this informal hour. Come with questions as
well as ideas to share. (You’re welcome to bring materials to share with
everyone or supplies to illustrate your program or demonstrate your storytime
element.)
